In the 1950s, in Christchurch, New Zealand, the young outsider Riper Pauline and Juliet Hume learn to know and develop a close friendship. To get away from the boring and slick reality Christchurch, girlfriends together create a fantasy world populated by unicorns, oversized butterflies, and a decadent royal family.
